Latent Space Encoding for Interpretable Fuzzy Logic Rules in Continuous and Noisy High-Dimensional Spaces
A simple and quick alternative to the famous Wang-Mendel Method for fuzzy logic rule generation is proposed and investigated; it is called the Latent Lockstep Method.

Leveraging Fuzzy Logic Towards More Explainable Reinforcement Learning-Induced Pedagogical Policies on Intelligent Tutoring Systems
We successfully distilled knowledge from a pedagogical policy, represented with a deep neural network, to a shallow neural network, and then mathematically translated this model to a fuzzy system. The fuzzy system was then interpreted with Temporal Granule Pattern Mining.

Bridging Declarative, Procedural, and Conditional Metacognitive Knowledge Gap Using Deep Reinforcement Learning
This work leverages Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) in providing adaptive metacognitive interventions to bridge the gap between the three knowledge types and prepare students for future learning across Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITSs).

Leveraging Deep Reinforcement Learning for Metacognitive Interventions across Intelligent Tutoring Systems
We combined Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) with Metacognitive Interventions to achieve transfer across Intelligent Tutoring Systems. We found that a DRL-based approach to provide adaptive interventions significantly outperforms a classifier-based approach to provide static interventions.

A Self-Organizing Neuro-Fuzzy Q-Network: Systematic Design with Offline Hybrid Learning
Self-organizing neuro-fuzzy Q-networks leverage hybrid learning to produce effective and interpretable policies, which aids human-in-the-loop for design or explainability.

Mixing Backward- with Forward-Chaining for Metacognitive Skill Acquisition and Transfer
In this work, students were trained on a logic tutor that supports a default forward-chaining (FC) and a backward-chaining (BC) strategy. We investigated the impact of mixing BC with FC on teaching strategy- and time-awareness for nonStrTime students.

The Power of Nudging: Exploring Three Interventions for Metacognitive Skills Instruction across Intelligent Tutoring Systems
In this work, students were trained on a logic tutor that supports a default forward-chaining and a backward-chaining (BC) strategy, then a probability tutor that only supports BC.
